Booking & Cancellation Policy

At Abyssinian Tour Operator, we are committed to delivering world-class experiences with professionalism, flexibility, and integrity. Our policies are structured to reflect international travel standards, ensuring fairness for both travelers and service providers. Please review the following terms carefully before booking your journey with us.
1. Standard Cancellation Policy
Our refund policy for standard bookings is based on the cancellation notice period:
- 30+ days before tour start: 80% refund
- 15–29 days before tour start: 50% refund
- 7–14 days before tour start: 25% refund
- Less than 7 days: Non-refundable
Note: Certain components (e.g., domestic flights, accommodations, special permits) may be non-refundable due to third-party provider terms, which fall outside our control.
2. Promotional & Flexible Bookings
For bookings made under special promotions or flexible packages:
- Free cancellation available up to 24 hours before the tour begins (local time)
- No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 24 hours of the start time
- For “Reserve Now, Pay Later” options, full payment is required at least 24 hours prior to tour departure to secure your place. Unpaid bookings will be automatically cancelled.
3. No-Show Policy
Guests who fail to arrive for their tour without prior notice are considered no-shows and are not eligible for any refund.
- Last-minute changes (e.g. date, participant name, special requests) made within 24 hours of the tour start time are subject to availability and may incur additional costs.
4. Cancellations or Modifications by Us
Abyssinian Tour Operator reserves the right to cancel or modify a tour in the event of:
- Force majeure (e.g. natural disasters, civil unrest, epidemics)
- Low enrollment not meeting the minimum group size
In such cases, we will offer:
- A full refund, or
- An alternative tour of equal or greater value, based on client preference
For group departures requiring a minimum number of participants, clients will be notified at least 15 days in advance if the tour is not viable.
5. Refunds & Processing Time
Eligible refunds will be processed within 14 business days to the original payment method. Exchange rate differences, bank transfer fees, or credit card processing fees may slightly affect the final amount received.
6. Travel Insurance Requirement
We strongly recommend that all travelers obtain comprehensive travel insurance before departure. Your policy should cover:
- Trip cancellation/interruption
- Medical emergencies
- Evacuation
- Loss of belongings
- Delays due to unforeseen events
Please ensure your policy is valid for Ethiopia and the activities in your itinerary.
7. Compliance & Liability
Our policies comply with global standards and ethical practices recognized by international travel associations. By confirming your booking, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions herein.
Abyssinian Tour Operator acts as a booking intermediary for third-party services. While we strive for excellence, we are not liable for disruptions caused by service providers, acts of God, or external factors beyond our control.
