Descend from Erta Ale and travel to the Tigray region. En route, visit the historic Abreha wa Atsbeha Church, carved into solid rock, before arriving in Hawzen.

Climb to Abuna Yemata Guh, one of Ethiopia's most dramatic cliff churches, famed for its 5th-century murals. Continue to Axum, Ethiopia’s ancient capital.
